Xtreme Alternative Defense Systems (XADS) Ltd., a privately held Anderson, IN based company, is a pioneering producer of Non-Lethal and anti_materiel Directed Energy Weapons (DEW).

XADS is researching and engineering innovative solutions that seek change the nature of the use of force in the 21st century. With its series of DEW products XADS is offering viable alternatives of protective and defensive measures for military operations, law enforcement, site security, and peacekeeping endeavors.

XADS was founded by Pete Bitar, President and Chief Developer, in 2002. Mr. Bitar had a vision: A real-life Phaser on stun that could be used both by police and the military when a situation required force, but no less-lethal alternative was available. Following the submission of a proposal to the United States Marine Corp, XADS was awarded an SBIR grant to conduct a feasibility study to further develop his idea for the patent-pending StunStrike System, a long range, wireless stun gun. Theoretical research is still be conducted on the StunStrike NLDEW system as XADS continues to secure Government, Industry, and University partners to bring a less-than-lethal solution to realization.

Additional Department of Defense contracts have assisted the evolution of the StunStrike system; most notably in the utilization of the core technology for the neutralization and defeat of improvised munitions, including roadside bombs, land mines, and unexploded ordnance.

XADS is also a leading developer of Dazzling laser systems, including the Photonic Disruptor Series of Photonic Disruptor system is a Threat Assessment Laser Illuminators (TALI) that can assess, deter, and disorient a potential aggressor from a guarded distance while leaving no permanent eye damage. Current R&D focuses on increasing the intensity while shrinking the size of the system for prolific use for military and law enforcement. The utilization of the TALI device by US and Allied forces in the Global War on Terror has consistently proven to be a valuable, life-sparing tool for soldiers and peace keepers.
