Anderson, IN (March, 2010):
XADS reports that is has just received a $99,999.00 SBIR Phase 1 contract from the US Air Force to develop “Anti-Avian” capabilities to prevent bird-strikes at airports. The contract is a basic research contract, which will contemplate the use of XADS’ laser technology to scare away birds from the flight paths of initially, US Air Bases, but eventually from Civilian airports worldwide as well.
Currently, an average of over $1.2 billion in damages occur worldwide each year from birds striking aircraft. This was highlighted over a year ago when the “Miracle on the Hudson” occurred in New York. XADS is honored to be tasked with such a meaningful and life-saving project, and we look forward to adapting our non-lethal technologies to solve this important problem, saving human lives, aircraft damage, and also the lives of the birds themselves, worldwide.
